Management Team

HogeboomJim Hogeboom began his tenure as the Superintendent of SRCS at the start of the 2019-20 school year. He oversees all district leadership including: Human Resources, Curriculum and Instruction, Information Technology, Special Education, PR/Communication, Business Services and Maintenance and Operations.

Superintendent Hogeboom has been a classroom teacher, Principal, Assistant Superintendent and Superintendent. He is known as a visionary, an innovator and a reflective systems-thinking leader who believes that every student can reach their full potential, if we ensure them that opportunity. He leads with an open, approachable and collaborative style to bring diverse groups together and use the strengths of everyone to move forward on behalf of what's best for students.

Under his leadership, Superintendent Hogeboom has worked to ensure that students are engaged, challenged and inspired to learn. Furthermore, he believes equity is a moral imperative and has set goals and developed targeted strategies to help achieve this important priority. 

Superintendent Hogeboom received his Administrative Credential from Sonoma State University, a Master of Arts degree in Administration from San Francisco State University, his Teaching Credential in Business and Social Studies from San Francisco State University and his Bachelor's degree in Political Science from the University of California, Berkeley.

Amy BaerAmy Buster Baer joined SRCS in 2009 and currently serves as the Assistant Superintendent of Human Resources.  Ms. Baer is a member of the Superintendent's Executive Cabinet, participating in decision making and direction setting for the District. In her position, she ensures that SRCS hires, develops and retains the highly skilled and motivated workforce required for effective teaching and student learning in all of our school communities.

Prior to joining SRCS, Ms. Baer's experience includes six years as a district level administrator in special education and student services. She has also worked as a school psychologist and a special day class teacher.

Given Ms. Baer's professional expertise, she was selected by the Fiscal Crisis Management Assistant Team as a consultant in the area of Special Education, participating in audits and performance evaluations of district special education programs across California.

She holds a B.S. in Business Administration from the University of Southern California and an M.A. in Education/School Psychology from Fresno Pacific University.

JasonJason Symkowick is the Executive Director of Student Services for SRCS. In his position, he oversees all student services programs including: special education, student attendance and discipline and student enrollment and transfers. Mr. Symkowick represents the District on several local and regional committees.

 

Mr. Symkowick has been with SRCS for the past four years. Most recently, he has served as an Assistant Director and a school psychologist within student services, gaining experience in both the elementary and high school districts. Previously, he was a Special Education Program Manager with the Marin County Office of Education. Jason began his career in education in the Novato Unified School District, where he served in a number of roles to support students.


He earned a Master’s degree in education administration; a Master’s degree school psychology and a Bachelor’s degree in psychology.

Kevin KerrKevin Kerr joined SRCS as the Director of Secondary Education. He comes to SRCS from the San Francisco Unified School District, where he was the principal at Balboa High School for six years, and where he excelled at establishing integrated learning academies and college and career pathways for all students. Previously, he held principal and site administrator positions with the San Francisco County/Court schools. Through his experience, he’s developed education knowledge and core skills, which include a commitment to student-centered instruction, program development and reform, curriculum implementation, as well as fostering communication and collaboration between all school stakeholders.

Kevin is a proud graduate of Terra Linda High School. He received his Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees from University of California, Berkeley and in 2014 participated in Stanford’s Principal Fellows Program.

SRCSChristina Perrino joined SRCS in 2014 and serves as the District's Communications Director. She is responsible for supporting the planning, developing, coordinating and preparing of responsive and transparent communications, programs and systems that support and promote an understanding of the District’s role, objectives, accomplishments and needs. Ms. Perrino partners with and provides responsive communications to the various communities, organizations and neighborhoods within the District.

Ms. Perrino has experience in strategy development, community relations, marketing, internal communication, social media, publication and web development, media relations, event planning and graphic design. Her communications career began in the nonprofit sector, which triggered her passion for serving mission-driven organizations through strategic and powerful communication. After spending time doing public affairs work at a global public relations agency, Ms. Perrino joined the communications team for a PK-12 public school district in St. Louis. Prior to joining SRCS, she was the Communications Director for a national educational non-profit organization. She received a B.A. in Communications from St. Louis University.

Daniel A. Zaich, Ed.D. Director, Strategic InitiativesDr. Zaich, who served as Director of Strategic Initiatives in the Superintendent’s Office, was appointed the Senior Director of Capital Facilities Program in August 2016. He will be responsible for overseeing the $269 million from bond Measures A and B to update and modernize our school facilities over the next eight years.

Mayra Perez, Ed. D.Dr. Mayra Perez was named Deputy Superintendent of Instruction, Innovation and Social Justice for SRCS in July 2016. Dr. Perez oversees the District’s instructional and teaching program, with a goal of ensuring equitable and high academic outcomes for all students, and enhancing systems and structures to support the instructional needs of school sites. She is working closely with Superintendent Watenpaugh to develop District policies and framework that advance and prioritize the work of the district’s strategic plan.

Dr. Perez comes to SRCS from San Gabriel Unified School District, where she’s held a variety of positions over the last 16 years, most recently as Assistant Superintendent of Educational Services. In her education career she’s been a Title I specialist, teacher, assistant principal, principal and program administrator.

She earned her Bachelor’s degree in psychology from the University of California, Los Angeles, and her Master’s degree in educational administration and her doctor of education from the University of Southern California. She is bilingual/biliterate in English and Spanish.

Doug MarquandDoug Marquand was appointed as the Assistant Superintendent of Business Services in September 2016. Mr. Marquand provides District-wide leadership in collaboration with Superintendent Watenpaugh to develop and implement District policies and initiatives that advance and prioritize the work of SRCS' strategic plan. He oversees the District's business services department, which includes payroll, maintenance and operations, transportation, and food and nutritional services, along with all business-related services.

Mr. Marquand has been involved in the world of school finance for over 20 years, and has been recognized throughout his career for his leadership, comprehensive technical knowledge, collaboration and communication skills, follow-through and dedication to the work and to all stakeholders. Prior to SRCS, he was the Assistant Superintendent of Administrative Services with the Placer Union High School District as well as the the North Sacramento Elementary School District.

Mr. Marquand earned his Bachelor's degree in business administration, finance from San Francisco State University. He is a Certified Chief Business Official by the California Association of School Business Officials.

Sarah AshtonSarah Ashton serves as the Chief Technology Officer for SRCS. Ms. Ashton is charged with leading the district’s strategic technology vision aligned to district goals. Ms. Ashton works with the Technology Steering Committee to prioritize projects and implement innovative approaches to teaching and learning.  

Prior to joining SRCS in July 2019, Ms. Ashton worked in San Francisco Unified School District, most recently as the Directors of Student Systems, for close to eight years where she led district-wide technology initiatives related to unifying student data and accessible technology. Ms. Ashton started her career in education as a high school teacher 25 years ago and is passionate about access, equity and student growth.

PedrollIn December 2015, David Pedroli joined SRCS as our Director of Maintenance and Operations. He has decades of experience in the facilities and operations sectors and has been a leader internationally and in the US. Dave has a track record of success in managing complex situations and bringing large-scale projects in on time and within budget. He has owned and operated a general contracting firm as well as an import/export corporation doing business worldwide. Additionally, he has many special skills related to construction and maintenance. Dave is a proud graduate of San Rafael High School.
