TLHS Celebrates National Computer Science Week
Posted 11/26/19

During the week of December 9-13, 2019, Terra Linda High School (TLHS) will celebrate Computer Science Education Week (CSEdWeek). CSEdWeek is an annual program dedicated to inspiring K-12 students to take interest in computer science. Originally conceived by the Computing in the Core coalition, Code.org® organizes CSEdWeek as a grassroots campaign supported by 350 partners and 100,000 educators worldwide. CSEdWeek is held in recognition of the birthday of computing pioneer Admiral Grace Murray Hopper (December 9, 1906).

This week-long celebration is open to TLHS students and will take place at lunch in the school’s Innovation Hub, which was recently completed using Measure B funds. For the past five years, the student-led Innovation Lab and TLHS computer science teachers have partnered to host this celebration and increase awareness of computer science and tech industry opportunities available to students.

On Thursday, Dec. 12, from 11:30 am – 12:10 pm, XR Marin and Enklu will sponsor the Industry Insight Lecture Series, featuring Daisy Berns, Enklu Director of Operations. Enklu transforms traditional venues into AR experience centers using immersive technology. XR Marin is a program of the Marin County Office of Education that offers classes in Augmented Reality, Virtual Reality, and Immersive Storytelling.
