Infinite Campus

San Rafael City School's Infinite Campus resource page is being developed as the system is rolled out throughout San Rafael City Schools. Please check back often for updates and more resources. 

We know that strong, reliable home-school communication is important to your child’s success, which is why we are excited to introduce you to Infinite Campus, a new student information system. Infinite Campus offers a powerful tool – a Parent Portal – that gives you up-to-date, secure online access to student information, truly enhancing communication between our schools and home. 

SRCS is rolling out Infinite Campus throughout the 2014-2015 school year, and the opening of the Parent Portal is an important step. You’ll have access to many features through this initial launch. Currently, the Portal is open to parents/guardians with children in grades 6-12. As the school year progresses, more tools will become available.

LOG IN 

Each 6-12 school site is hosting a parent training workshop in English and Spanish to help parents and guardians learn this new system. Mark the calendar for the event at your school. If you are unable to attend the workshop at your site, you are welcome to attend another site. Please stay tuned for more details.

What information will I be able to access in the new Parent Portal?
This portal will contain information like upcoming assignments, to-do lists, school and district announcements and attendance information. You can also review contact information and request changes like preferred communication language and if you prefer an email to a phone, so that school staff can communicate with you in the way you choose.

Who has access to the Portal?
At this time, the Portal is open to parents/guardians and students in grades 6-12. SRCS is rolling out Infinite Campus throughout the 2014-2015 school year, and the Portal will be opening to grades K-5 later this year. A parent/guardian who has been designated as having legal rights to their children may request a parent portal account. Each parent/guardian will have their own unique account that can be use to gain access to student records that they have legal rights to.

How do I set up my Parent Portal account?
Each parent/guardian has one secure Activation Key to access the Portal. Letters were mailed to parents with children in grades 6-12 the week of Sept. 29. The letters contain a unique Activation Key and directions to setup your account. If you do not have a letter, please see the next question.

Once you have the Activation Key, follow these steps:

1. Launch your web browser and enter portal.srcs.org on the address line.
2. On the portal login screen, click on the orange “Help” button.
3. Click the blue “Click here” link on the line: “If you have been assigned a Campus Portal Activation Key, click here.”
4. Type your 32-Activation Key. Click on the “Submit” button. The key is case sensitive. You must type it exactly as printed. Do not enter the dashes.
5. You will determine your own username and password. On the “Account Creation Screen,” enter the username and password you have selected. Type the password a second time to verify.
6. Click on the “Create Account” button when you have finished entering your username and password.
7. You should receive a “Congratulations” message. Click on the blue “Click here” link to proceed to the Campus Portal login page. Log in with the username and password you created.

How can a parent/guardian obtain an Activation Key to create an account?
A parent/guardian’s unique Activation Key was included in a letter that was mailed to each parent/guardian in grades 6-12 the week of Sept. 29. If you do not have the Activation Key, please visit your child’s school administration. As a privacy and security precaution, the office staff will request you to provide some form of photo ID.

As a parent, do I need my own account or can I use my child’s account?
All parents are strongly encouraged to setup their own account. Only a parent account has the privilege to update household information as well as the ability to view all children in a household from a single place. Parents also have the added benefit of receiving district and school wide announcements.

How often is the information in Infinite Campus updated?
SRCS is rolling out Infinite Campus throughout the 2014-2015 school year, and as with any change, we are all learning how to use this new tool in the most effective manner. Many teachers do not enter grades daily (i.e. English teachers) as many assignments require thoughtful review. Many teachers update the online gradebook at least once a week. As we progress through the school year, we will keep you updated as our professional staff determines how best to communicate with you and your child. Thank you for your patience as we learn the best practices in updating grades and other information.

Is my information secure in the Portal?
Yes, all student information in Infinite Campus is safeguarded and encrypted, as keeping student data safe is critical. Infinite Campus uses SSL (secure socket layer) encryption technology to ensure data is protected while information is in transit. It is similar to what the banking industry is utilizing.

Do I need any special software to use the Portal?
An up-to-date Internet browser is all you need to review information. To review reports like Missing Assignments and Report Cards, you will need Adobe Acrobat Reader, available for free at get.adobe.com/reader.

Is there a mobile app to access Infinite Campus on the go?
Yes, Infinite Campus App is available for download on iPad, iPhone and Android devices. The District ID for the app is DCNDCY.

The transition to Infinite Campus is a key part of our efforts to enhance communication, transparency and the integration of technology tools that promise greater effectiveness and engagement for parents, students and staff.
